The partnership started in 2006 when the Japan Productivity Center (JPC) collaborated with various Pan African Productivity Association (PAPA) member countries on the Technical Cooperation on Productivity Improvement to African Nations under the support of Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Government of Japan.
The cooperation saw the introduction of
- 5S and Kaizen concepts
- the practical productivity improvement activities implemented by the Japanese companies
- Elimination of Waste
- Quality Improvement Activities
- Green Productivity in South African enterprises.
Such Japanese productivity improvement activities have enhanced the local companies in Africa (model companies) to promote efficiency in work as well as improving the quality of their products/services.
This has also helped the officers of the National Productivity Organizations (NPOs) in Africa to elevate their main consulting skills of management and production to a higher standard.
